Building Regulations App Development
The FES group engaged with Red Fred Creative to design a building regulations app. A key service provided by the FES group is construction compliance. They provide this service to major UK house builders and construction companies. Photographic evidence is required at multiple stages of the building process for each and every plot.
The purpose of the app is collect photographic evidence for building regulation compliance. It should harness the capability of the mobile device to collect geolocation enabled photographs and streamline the approval process.

KEY DELIVERABLES
We focused on creating a visually attractive, on-brand, and intuitive user interface for the building regulations app to ensure users have a seamless experience. To enhance functionality, we developed a reliable app capable of presenting building projects and plots while allowing users to capture photos directly linked to these projects and plots. Additionally, we ensured the app provides a dependable connection to the existing system, enabling easy photo validation. To maximize accessibility and usability, we produced versions compatible with both iOS and Android platforms, making the app versatile for a wide range of users.
THE SOLUTION
We began by creating a wireframe to map out the user’s journey through the building regulations app, laying the groundwork before introducing the user interface design. As with most apps, it was crucial to leverage the capabilities of mobile devices while ensuring an intuitive user experience. Specifically, we harnessed the device's photographic technology combined with geolocation features. This approach allows users to accurately assign photos to specific plots, ensuring seamless compliance with building regulations.

Collaboration in Action
To bring the app to life, we partnered with the FES Group and their data partner, Arctec Data, to integrate app submissions into an existing database system. This integration enables real-time validation of submissions, ensuring the app is always up-to-date. The project-specific dashboard plays a pivotal role by highlighting any missing information well in advance of project completion. This proactive approach allows for quick approval—or otherwise—of submissions. Once all required information is received and approved, the system generates the BREL Report, as-built SAP, and EPC. Finally, all compiled data is packaged and delivered to the project's key contacts, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.A testimonial from our client.
