BUSINESSES IN CHESHIRE

Unilever

Unilever, a Dutch-British transnational consumer goods company, is co-headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and London, United Kingdom.  Its diverse product range includes food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care items.  In 2012, it was the world’s largest consumer goods company by revenue and the largest producer of food spreads like margarine.  Unilever also ranks as Europe’s seventh most valuable company.  One of the oldest multinational companies, its products are available in approximately 190 countries.

Unilever has offices in Warrington, Cheshire and its research and development centre on the Wirral.  The University of Liverpool on the Cheshire outskirts also hosts some of Unilever’s largest research projects.  Cheshire contributes significantly to Unilever’s product and business development.  A partnership with the University of Liverpool aims to produce larger and better consumer innovations.  The 120,000 sq ft Centre on Grove Street in Liverpool employs 250 researchers, including scientists from Unilever and University staff.

Unilever’s extensive range of over 400 brands has earned it a unique place in the lives of people worldwide.  Whether consumers are seeking nutritionally balanced foods, indulgent ice creams, affordable soaps that combat disease, luxurious shampoos, or everyday household care products, they’re likely to find a Unilever brand on their shelves.  Seven out of every ten households globally contain at least one Unilever product.  Their range of world-leading household names includes Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s, and Omo.

Bentley Motors

Bentley Motors Limited, a leading British luxury car manufacturer, was founded in 1919 by W. O. Bentley in Cricklewood, North London.  Its headquarters is now located in Crewe, Cheshire.  The choice of Crewe was strategic. During the war, the British Government sought a secure location for aero-engine production.  Crewe’s excellent road and rail links, along with its northwest position away from mainland European aerial bombing, made it the ideal choice.

Crewe in Cheshire, renowned for its vast farming land, boasted 60 acres of available space. This abundance of land allowed the factory to commence construction in July 1938 on Merill’s Farm’s potato fields.  Remarkably, just five months later, the first Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engine was being produced and distributed.  At its peak, the factory produced 25,000 Merlin engines. During World War II, in 1943, Rolls-Royce relocated its car operations to Crewe, Cheshire, while its aero engine operations remained in Derby.

Following Volkswagen’s acquisition of the business, they invested GBP500 million (US$845 million) in renovating and modernising the Crewe factory.  The aim was to boost production capacity.  It’s estimated Volkswagen invested nearly US$2 billion in reviving Bentley.  Bodywork and parts are shipped from Germany where the final assembly takes place at the Crewe factory.

Mornflake

Mornflake, a producer of oat and oat-based breakfast cereals, was founded in 1675 in Crewe, Cheshire, England.  For many years, it’s been a long-standing sponsor of football teams like Crewe Alexandra Football Club and Altrincham F.C.  The brand’s focus is on creating healthy cereals and muesli using organic oats.  Since a relaunch of its packaging and products, Mornflake has become one of Cheshire’s largest companies, alongside Bentley.  Its cereals are popular throughout the UK and widely available in supermarkets.

DESIGN AGENCY CHESHIRE

TRUSTED BY BUSINESSES IN CHESHIRE & WORLDWIDE

The brand experience is something that we work with in partnership with our clients to develop. Every touchpoint with a business or organisation should have similar level of consideration. This could be the  person at reception, the website design or business card design. If anything is out of place, poorly executed or inconsistent then the brand experience is undermined. As a design agency we develop brand guidelines to help businesses and organisations identify and retain the desired level of brand consistency.
