Chester zoo located in Chester, Cheshire is a zoological garden which opened in 1931 by George Motterhead and his family. At 125 acres (51 ha) and a total of 400 acres ( 160ha) available it is the one of the largest zoo’s in the UK., It is also the most visited wildlife attraction in the UK. with over 1.4 million visitors in 2014, it has been described as one of the best zoo’s in the world and ranked in the top 15 by Forbes. It has also been awarded the best zoo in the UK and also third best in the world by Trip advisor. The zoo is operated bt the North of England zoological society which ia a registered charity founded in 1934.
The zoo has 15,00 animals of a wide variety, including South American and south east Asian bears, Meerkats, cheetahs, Penguins and Crocodiles; these are just a small portion of what is on offer to see. Being a conservation charity there is always something different and exciting to see at this zoo.
